All for One, One for All

June 23, 2020

Attention: Mr. TJ Rider McDowell

Mr. McDowell it is with great pleasure and honor that I write this letter of support for the Betabel project and pediatric cancer research your family and foundation are currently undertaking. Eradicating this dreadful disease that affects millions of children is a priority we must all take to heart.

As local president of one of the oldest civil rights organization in the country, we have an established record of fighting for those less fortunate. Our motto “All for One and One for All” is never more important than when we consider our children. SBC LULAC will always fight for the rights of children to live long fruitful and productive lives.

No child or family should suffer the painful experience of treatments without the reassurance that science and medicine are working diligently to help. The reality that research is still lacking a cure means still more needs to be done. I applaud your foundations attempt to solve the monetary commitment these endeavors require with a prudent solution in San Benito County.

The issues with funding such worthy causes is no easy task. This is why I support the effort to take a bad piece of property at Betabel and 101 and create jobs, commerce, and hopefully a cure. I know some have unscrupulously attacked your efforts, both personally and financially, but as a San Benito County resident, community leader, and small business owner I and others stand with you.

I hope my personal, and professional, support can help solidify the positive impact this project will have on our community. Childhood cancer has touched many families, even mine, and I will always work tirelessly to help defeat this horrible disease. With deep respect and admiration please accept this letter of support.

Respectfully,

Richard Perez Sr.
